Silicone is a commonly used word, but it is distinguished by two meanings: 'SILICON' and 'SILICONE'. Chemically, the element symbol SI (silicon) exists as a dark gray metal, which is called 'SILICON' and is applied in the semiconductor field.
Silicon (SILICONE) refers to a polymer material having an organic skeleton such as a siloxane bond made of silicon and oxygen. Silicon is condensed as water is drained between the silanol groups. This phenomenon is similar to the phenomenon of water coming out and becoming a ketone when there are two alcohol groups on carbon, so it was named SILICO-KETONE, and it was simply called SILICONE.
